At a ceremony kicking off the first Statewide Treaty negotiations, the First Peoples’ Assembly of Victoria and the Victorian Government gathered on Wurundjeri Country. As Assembly Co-chair, Ngarra Murray delivered a speech recognising the historical significance of this Treaty. Murray acknowledged the path of activism that had led to this point, the strong character of Aboriginal Victorians, and the long history as First Peoples. She discusses what Treaty means and its purpose as a shared path.

Ngarra Murray is a proud Wamba Wamba, Yorta Yorta, Dhudhuroa and Dja Dja Wurrung woman and currently Co-Chair of the First Peoples' Assembly of Victoria, the independent and democratically elected body representing Traditional Owners of Country and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Victoria. Murray manages the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People's program for Oxfam and is a member of the Victorian NAIDOC Week committee.
